So proud of our Garrison FCCLA students for an incredible showing at Regionals in Waco, TX this past Friday! 💙❤️ They competed against schools ranging from 1A–6A, along with campuses dedicated solely to CTE programs — and they represented Garrison with excellence, creativity, and professionalism.

Throughout the year, these students poured their hearts into projects covering powerful and relevant topics like family health and parent/teen relationships (with an Encanto-inspired board), driving safety in school zones, career exploration in marine biology, and student mental health awareness through their Inside Out-themed project, “Inside Your Mind.” We also had three students compete in Job Interview events and two students showcase their talents in Texas Cupcakes, where they designed themed cupcakes and displays while presenting to judges.

Their hard work truly paid off, and we could not be more proud of their dedication and growth this year. 🎉 A HUGE congratulations to Suhani Kumar and Brianna Nolan for advancing to the FCCLA State Leadership Conference in Dallas this April! Please help us celebrate all of our amazing competitors and wish our state qualifiers the best of luck! ⭐👏

Garrison ISD will start school at the regular time tomorrow, Thursday the 29th. Stay warm and stay safe! We will see you tomorrow!

Given the number of individuals lacking power and water, we believe it is in the best interest to close on Wednesday, January 28. We hope this will provide the utility companies with additional time to restore reliable power and water services. Furthermore, while the county roads appear to be navigable, we cannot guarantee their safety for bus travel. There remain power lines, debris, and slippery areas dispersed throughout the school district. We sincerely regret the inconveniences this may cause, but we have made this difficult decision with the welfare of our community, which is still without water and power, in mind.

Due to the state of the roads, fallen trees, and power outages affecting the community, along with the possibility of refreezing tonight, Garrison ISD will not hold classes tomorrow, January 27th. Updates regarding conditions will be provided by 1:00 PM tomorrow for school on Wednesday, January 28th.

Out of an abundance of caution and the most recent Nacogdoches county disaster declaration, Garrison ISD will be closed on Monday, January 26th. All junior high basketball games are canceled as well as all basketball and softball practices.

closure
Garrison ISD is closely monitoring the weather forecast for this upcoming weekend. We want to assure you that any decisions about delays or cancellations are never made lightly. We understand the significant impact these changes can have on families, work schedules, and daily routines. Our aim is to make a decision that ensures the safety and well being of our students and staff.

We will have regular school on Friday, January 23rd, with adjustments being made to the Friday night basketball schedules. We have cancelled the sub varsity games to ensure families get home earlier in the night. The Ring of Honor presentation for Jabarra Williams has also been postponed.

At this time, freezing temperatures appear early Saturday morning through the weekend, with a high chance of freezing rain. Garrison ISD will make a decision by 2:00 pm on Sunday regarding school on Monday, January 26, 2026.

Please understand that the weather in East Texas seems more unpredictable now more than ever. Please make sure you are logged into your Rooms account and that you are following the Garrison ISD app or facebook page.

Today we are reminded that iron sharpens iron, and the support from others who understand the grind means everything. A huge THANK YOU to the Woden Varsity Cheerleaders for the thoughtful goodie bags wishing our Garrison Varsity good luck. The encouragement from a fellow Nacogdoches County program truly means so much to our team and our program.

We also want to give a special shout-out to our Garrison Middle School Cheerleaders for the Starburst bag that read, “Burst onto the mat like the stars that you are.” Your support and kind words made our day and remind us how special our cheer family is from top to bottom.

Tonight, our Garrison Varsity Cheerleaders take the mat at the UIL State Spirit Championships. Please help us wish them the best of luck as they represent our school and community with pride.

If you can’t make it in person, be sure to tune in on NFHS and cheer them on!
