Students discover that English isn’t just something they use in school—it’s a workplace skill. Students turn words into purposeful communication, using audience, tone, rhetoric, design, and technology to create a professional product with real-world purpose. Two groups used the new Cricut to design T-shirts for their projects. This lesson connected to the Texas Workforce Commission's summer externship that Ms. McClellan attended, and the Cricut was bought with the grant she received.

We have had an extremely successful first six weeks of school! It has been an absolute joy having our students back on campus and watching them dive into the new school year.
As the first grading period comes to a close, we want to share a few important reminders to help keep our campus running smoothly and safely:
🚗 Morning Drop-Off Locations (Open at 7:20 AM): Please use one of our two designated drop-off areas.
Option 1 (Cafeteria Awning): Enter from Avenue B onto Henning Road, and exit using Avenue B. **Do not use the parking lot as an entrance or drop off location!!
Option 2 (High School): Enter via Bulldog Drive and exit using Tiby Lane.
Note: We understand there can be a wait, but using alternate locations creates chaos and unsafe conditions. The safety and well-being of our students is our number one priority.
⏰ School Start Time & Tardies: School begins promptly at 7:45 AM. Any student arriving after 7:45 AM must be accompanied into the front office by a parent or guardian to sign in. This entrance is locked and not available until after 7:45 AM unless you have an appointment or prior arrangement.
📝 Attendance Notes: When your child is absent, please remember to submit an official doctor's note or a written note from a parent/guardian to excuse the absence.
📊 Report Cards (Thursday, 9/24):Middle & High School: Report cards will be mailed home.Elementary School: Report cards will be sent home directly with students.

Tonight, we came together to honor America and remember 9/11.
It was a powerful moment as our local first responders, active military, Veterans, and members of both the Garrison Bulldogs and DeKalb Bears united to present the flag. To top off the moving tribute, GHS student Bri Nolan delivered a beautiful performance of the Star-Spangled Banner.
