7th and 8th Grade Social Studies Harrism@garrisonisd.com ~ I grew up in Dallas, TX. and fortunately met an east Texas man who got me to the best part of the state! I graduated from SFA and began teaching after my children were in school. I have taught for a long time (!) with the best years being here at Garrison Middle School. When I was in Jr. High and High School my worst subject was Math because I didn't understand it, and my least favorite subject was History because my teachers just made us read out of the book and answer questions at the end of the chapter. The teachers I had never explained anything about history to us. I think I might be guilty of over-explaining history because of the teachers I had! Now I see how math and history are used in our lives every day, and I absolutely love teaching History in Middle School. My husband and I have been married since 1975 and have 2 adult sons, one who has remained in the promised-land of east Texas, and the other who has chosen to live the city-life in Houston. We are blessed with 2 step-grandchildren and hoping for more little ones in the future. I love the outdoors and one of my favorite things to do is go camping. I like to fish and have an ongoing contest of whose fish story is the best with our principal, Mr. Metcalf. MY stories are always TRUE!! I also enjoy reading and going to movies. My family brings me much contentment and I have fun when I am with them. I believe the Lord has blessed me in many ways, and am very thankful to have the opportunity to be a part of the GMS faculty. GO 'DOGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ~ Character is much easier kept than recovered.  |
